I just started going to a certified massage place about a year ago. I have gone about 10 times now and have tired each of the three therapists who practice there. One I have decided that I like the best for her deep tissue massage technique. So, I have become a regular for her, but just on a once per month basis. We converse well. She is very good at trying to work new things with me to help my trouble spots (upper back and legs from sports). I tell her how much I enjoy and appreciate her skill, and I tip her well. She has told me that if I ever want to come in on a day and she happens to not be scheduled for that day, then I should just call the place anyway, tell them I am regular of hers, and they will then call her and tell her I have called, and if she is around and can come in, then she will come in to take my appointment anyway. Some interesting things have started to happen in past few appointments. While I am on my stomach, and she is working on my legs and glutes, she allows the drape to fall of me onto the floor. This also nearly happened once while I was face up, but I put my thumb on the drape to stop it as it was sliding. Not that I really care about it. It just sort of suprised me. I don’t care if she sees me naked, I am sure that she has seen that plenty of times. Actually, I rather like the risque element of it all. I would imagine since I don’t fuss about it, she has gathered that I don’t mind it. She also has me do these stretches for my leg while I am face up, covered, where I bring my knee up and out to the side. She then applies pressure on the inside of my knee to flex the hip/groin area (this is actually what nearly brought the drape off when I was face up)., and she massages down my inner thigh to my groin (no inapropriate contact). She also has me do a quad stretch when I face down where she puts her knee under my thigh to elevate my thigh off of the table while she stretches my quad by pushing my foot back so that my heel touches my backside. A great massage and great stretching… all in all a great experience. Though I have very limited experience with various therapists, this does, however, seem to be pushing the envelope a bit. Is this style of therapy common? As I said, I am not offended, in fact very much enjoy it. I was just wondering. Thanks.

I purchased a voucher allowing me to have 4 hair and beauty treatments for just £50. However my dad got mad at me becaue she was out in the street and could have been anyone. However I had been to one of the places in the offer and liked it. She had a chip and pin machine in her bag with her so I paid that way.
I get 4 visits each with consultation and beverages.
Vist A is hair conditioning treatment, scalp massage and professional cut and style.
Visit B is either a facial and shoulder massage or manicure and shoulder massage.
Visit C Deep tissue massage to neck shoulders and back.
Visit D up to 10 foil highlights, and hair styled like straightened or curled.
Thats what I get so I though it was a good saving and the offer was for 10 people only and since I do not have any money coming in and was interested in the treatments and would have needed a haircut soon anyway I took it.
Did dad need to get mad?
I HAVE been to the salon running this promotion before and recieved top class service. This salon is registered with a major hairdressing group.

In the fall of 1978 Angelo Dundee, Leonard’s trainer and schedule maker was on vacation. In his absense, the Leonard team accepted a proposal to fight an up and coming fighter on ABC TV that fall. Leonard would get $100,000 and this other fighter would have received $12,500.

When Dundee returned, he vetoed the match up immediately.

Over the past ten years it has become more common to find massage therapists treating athletes using massage therapy. The therapeutic advantage of massage not only eases the pain in sore muscles, but actually strengthens an athlete prior to a game or event. It is not uncommon for professional athletes to have their own personal massage therapist.

There are many different massage therapy techniques used to treat athletes. Many therapists use deep tissue massage to treat athletes who are injured. Deep tissue massage is often used as relief for injured muscles. In order to perform a deep tissue massage a therapist must use either the fingers, thumbs or even the elbows to get into the grain of the muscles. In order to practice a deep tissue massage, a therapist must be thoroughly trained as if not done properly, it can cause additional pain or injury. this type of massage is very effective as it works beneath the surface muscles and is a popular method for relieving not only injuries, but also chronic pain and even inflammation.

Implementing various different sports massage techniques and stretches to your program will greatly enhance your ability to work with athletes. Deep tissue massage is just one, some of my favorites are cross fiber friction, muscle stripping techniques, active release techniques and PNF stretches. Learn these and watch your business grow.

To prepare an athlete, a massage therapist will concentrate on the muscles most often used. By using various sports massage therapy techniques, the muscles are relaxed. Being tense will make an injury worse. It is the reason why so many drunk drivers walk away from car accidents while those they hit die. It is because the driver was completely relaxed. The muscles were relaxed. It works the same way with an athlete.

An athlete who goes into a game with muscles that are relaxed and toned is in much better condition to avoid greater injury to those muscles if they are tense. This is why so many athletes use the benefits of massage treatments, such as relaxing spa treatments, prior to sporting events.

A good massage therapist can have a thriving practice in the field of sports medicine if he or she is well versed in treating athletes. They must have complete knowledge of the anatomical structure of the human body and need to know which muscles are most prone to strain and injury. They not only need to know how to relieve the pain from injury, but also to prepare an athlete so that he or she does not get a greater injury. Sports massage techniques include both deep tissue massage and a variety of relaxing massages and stretching techniques. While a physical trainer works with an athlete to improve his or her skills on the field, the therapist works with the body of the athlete to prepare the body for the exertion it will soon endure.

Treating athletes using massage therapy is very common and has been practiced for years. Without the massage techniques performed prior to the game, the athlete may not be able to sustain the beatings that some of their bodies take during a sports competition such as football. This is a growing field and very prosperous for a person who is willing to learn the proper techniques.

I have been working out at 24 hour fitness for a while… But I always see posters that say “For faster results, get a personal trainer,” blah blah. So what i want to know is, has anyone had a personal trainer and if they are really worth the money that they charge, or are they just telling you the same information that you already know…
