For bosses day my wonderful team at work got me a massage gift card at a high end salon/day spa in our area. The gift card is for a specific massage and it’s a $90 gift card, 50 minutes. I’ve never gotten a deep tissue Swedish massage before, but I’m very excited! What should I expect? Do I strip down all the way or leave on bra & panties? Should I tip over the gift card amount (the massage is $90 which is equal to the gift card)?

I put an ad in classifieds that reads: {Deep tissue massage in your home. Not licensed or certified. Inexpensive 1 hour price. Please call……} (I have experience but never got a license or was certified–no time as this is a part-time income only). Is this illegal in the state of NJ? Can I get in trouble?
I just googled and read that the law is not yet in effect unti the NJ governor apoints members to a licensing board….? Does this mean I CAN masage UNTIL law goes in effect?
NOT a sex ad. I stated that in classifieds also.

A few weeks ago, I was moving some cabinets. The next day, I felt a little tight and sore on the right side of my lower back. It hasn’t ever really gone away. When I run or play sports, it comes back. I was considering getting a massage, but I’m not sure what kind. My friend said deep tissue hurts, but will be the most beneficial to working out the kinks. I’ve also heard Hot Stone is good for muscles as is Swedish. Does anyone have any tips?

I just started going to a certified massage place about a year ago. I have gone about 10 times now and have tired each of the three therapists who practice there. One I have decided that I like the best for her deep tissue massage technique. So, I have become a regular for her, but just on a once per month basis. We converse well. She is very good at trying to work new things with me to help my trouble spots (upper back and legs from sports). I tell her how much I enjoy and appreciate her skill, and I tip her well. She has told me that if I ever want to come in on a day and she happens to not be scheduled for that day, then I should just call the place anyway, tell them I am regular of hers, and they will then call her and tell her I have called, and if she is around and can come in, then she will come in to take my appointment anyway. Some interesting things have started to happen in past few appointments. While I am on my stomach, and she is working on my legs and glutes, she allows the drape to fall of me onto the floor. This also nearly happened once while I was face up, but I put my thumb on the drape to stop it as it was sliding. Not that I really care about it. It just sort of suprised me. I don’t care if she sees me naked, I am sure that she has seen that plenty of times. Actually, I rather like the risque element of it all. I would imagine since I don’t fuss about it, she has gathered that I don’t mind it. She also has me do these stretches for my leg while I am face up, covered, where I bring my knee up and out to the side. She then applies pressure on the inside of my knee to flex the hip/groin area (this is actually what nearly brought the drape off when I was face up)., and she massages down my inner thigh to my groin (no inapropriate contact). She also has me do a quad stretch when I face down where she puts her knee under my thigh to elevate my thigh off of the table while she stretches my quad by pushing my foot back so that my heel touches my backside. A great massage and great stretching… all in all a great experience. Though I have very limited experience with various therapists, this does, however, seem to be pushing the envelope a bit. Is this style of therapy common? As I said, I am not offended, in fact very much enjoy it. I was just wondering. Thanks.

I visited a massage parlor two days back. The massage lasted an hour. i didn’t remove my underwear. Massage sheets were wet when i climbed onto the bed. The Asian masseur, gave me a deep tissue massage and towards the end asked me if i wanted a blow job/massage of the genitals. I said no and came out after around 5minutes.

After the session, i am anxious, if she was HIV positve. Could i have picked up HIV from the wet sheets or her hands which massaged me for an hour. ?

I am married,,,feeling guilty to have visited those place. Am i at risk of HIV ? feeling guilty to have sex with my wife as i am confused if i will be putting her at risk.

    Hi There,

I’m interested in having a pregnancy massage. Please share your experiences and recommendation on what kind of pregnancy massage is the best. I mean, the one that can REALLY make you relax after that and no more tired. For normal massage, I like a kind of deep tissue massage. Thanks!

I have been having pain in the neck, more of the sides and back of the neck, my shoulder blades, and the top of my shoulders. My fiancee told me to see a chiropractor. I was told by my mother to see a massage therapist for a deep tissue massage. Which one should I see? Is there anything I can do at home, it has been going on for about 6 months, yes I know…
I have gotten a massage about 3 months ago, the therapist said my neck was a mess and to come in again to make sure we worked it all out. I went back for the second time and felt great afterwards just like the first time. However, the pain came back and it is just as bad as before the first massage if not worse? Did she miss spots again?

Find Deep Tissue Massage Training in the United States and Canada. In addition to the healing benefits of deep tissue massage, it is one of the main massage modalities taught in most massage curricula. Individuals interested in deep tissue massage training learn how this therapeutic massage is helpful for stress, bad posture, excessive fitness training, prolonged computer work, and any other overuse of muscles that can cause muscle stiffness, back and neck pain, and headaches.

In most massage therapy programs, deep tissue massage training is a foundational course; and with hands-on instruction, participants learn how to administer this stretching treatment, which releases stiffness and soreness. As part of the deep tissue massage training, individuals discover how this therapy penetrates deeper layers of muscles by squeezing and stretching muscles through skillful hand movements and pressure. Stimulating blood circulation, deep tissue massage may sometimes create a little muscle soreness but this reaction is normal as painful adhesions are being mechanically loosened. With regular deep tissue massage treatment, constrained muscles become loose and flexible; thus reducing pain and increasing range of motion.

As with many massage therapy programs, deep tissue massage training typically ranges between 300 and 500 hours; however, in some cases, courses may be longer and entail additional massage instruction in Swedish massage and sports massage, among others. In addition to deep tissue massage training, students learn about anatomy, physiology, and kinesiology.

Some holistic workshops and seminars offer introductory deep tissue massage training, but these classes are designed for those persons who would like to learn more about self-healing techniques, and are not offered as part of a professional career program. Other deep tissue massage training courses are provided as continuing education classes, in addition to home-study courses for those wanting to fine-tune skills. Upon successful completion of professional deep tissue massage training, graduates are eligible to become certified massage therapists.

If you (or someone you know) are interested in finding deep tissue massage training, let professional education within fast-growing industries like massage therapy, cosmetology, acupuncture, oriental medicine, Reiki, and others get you started! Explore career school programs near you.
